DC weather history for November 4

Early-season snow in 1910 set a record with 4 inches, while in 1974 an extraordinary warm spell pushed temperatures to 84 degrees—one of the hottest readings ever so late in the year.

On this day in 1910, D.C. received a calendar-day record 4 inches of snow, also its biggest snow so early in the season. Total liquid precipitation that day — from rain and the equivalent in melted snow — was 1.01 inches. It was a wet snow given a high temperature of 44 and low of 32.

And on this day in 1974, the high temperature soared to 84 degrees, the warmest on record so late in the year. It marked a record fourth straight day with highs in the 80s during November.
