DC weather history for November 3

Exceptional warmth in 2016 sent temperatures to a record 83 degrees, one of the hottest readings ever observed so late in the year.

On this day in 2016, the temperature soared to a calendar-day record of 83 degrees. “Such a temperature is exceptionally warm for early November in Washington,” I wrote that day. “The only calendar day the rest of the year to achieve a higher temperature was Nov. 4, 1974, which hit 84 degrees.”
