DC weather history for March 30

A late-season 1964 snowstorm brought record snowfall and disrupted spring traditions, including the White House egg roll.

On this day in 1964, a calendar-day record 4.8 inches of snow fell. Another inch would fall the next day, resulting in a storm total of 5.8 inches, the most on record so late in the season. Because of the snow, the annual White House egg roll was canceled, The Washington Post reported on the front page on March 31 that year.
