On this day in 1925, a calendar-day record 2 inches of snow fell in the D.C. area. The next day, another 0.2 inches accumulated. The storm total of 2.2 inches was the most on record so early in the year. In Baltimore, 2.5 inches of snow fell. Up to an inch was reported as far south as Nashville.
“The snow broke several electric light cables, throwing scores of homes and streets into darkness,” the front page of The Washington Post reported. “In most sections of the city, the snow turned into slush, making walking and driving perilous.”
