On this date in 2018, the temperature matched a calendar-day record high of 91 degrees. It marked the first of three straight days reaching at least 90. The 90-degree mark arrived about two weeks ahead of schedule. On average, Washington does not post its first 90-degree day until mid-May.

And on this date in 2016, heavy storms swept across the D.C. area, unleashing damaging winds, hail and flooding rain. Reagan National Airport received 1.24 inches of rain and hail while Washington Dulles International Airport registered 1.37 inches in a single hour.
