DC weather history for March 21

A late-season 2018 snowfall blanketed the region on the first day of spring, bringing one of the biggest accumulations so late in the year.

On this date in 2018, 4.1 inches of snow blanketed D.C. — the most so late in the season since 1964. The snow — coinciding with the first day of spring — closed schools and the federal government. “The snowflakes are big and fat, and the wet snow is sticking to everything,” I wrote during the storm.
