On this day in 1889, D.C. received 3.21 inches of rain, its wettest April day on record. It came amid an unprecedented rainy stretch during the month. The previous day, 1.5 inches of rain fell and, the next day, there was another 0.58 inches. Small amounts of measurable also fell on the last three days of the month. The monthly total of 9.13 inches is the most on record.
