A bitter cold snap in 1900 brought back-to-back record lows, following a major snowstorm during an unusually cold and snowy March.

On this date in 1900, the temperature dipped to a calendar-day record low of 13 degrees. It was the second day in a row with a record low of 13. The frigid air followed a major snowstorm on March 15 and 16 that delivered 10 inches. March that year was generally cold and snowy, with an average temperature that was nearly 9 degrees below normal and a monthly snowfall of 15.5 inches, fourth-most on record.
