DC weather history for March 10

A burst of early-spring warmth in 2026 shattered records, part of a multi-day stretch of unusually mild temperatures following a cold winter.

On this date in 2026, the high soared to a calendar day record of 84 degrees, shattering the previous mark of 79 set one decade before. It was the third of four straight days with highs above 75. The next day would soar to 86 degrees, another record. The warm spell came on the heels of an unusually cold winter in which December, January and February were all colder than normal.

The warmth of 2016 was also notable.  It hit 79 degrees three days in a row. That March ranked as the fourth warmest on record.
