DC weather history for January 15

Unseasonable warmth in 1932 sent temperatures to a record 77 degrees, capping a remarkable stretch of frequent 50- and 60-degree days during one of the city’s warmest Januaries.

On this date in 1932, the high in the District soared to a calendar-day record of 77 degrees; it marked the third-straight day with a record high in the 70s. The trio of 70-degree days was part of an abnormally mild stretch from Jan. 12 to 25 in which the high reached at least 50 on 13 of 14 days and at least 60 on 7 of 14 days. That January was the second-warmest on record in Washington.
