DC weather history for February 24

Exceptional late-winter warmth in 2017 brought near-record highs and record-warm nights, part of the warmest February on record.

On this date in 2017, the high soared to 77 degrees, one off the calendar-day record high of 78 from 1985. The low of 54 degrees was the warmest on record for the date.

The warm day was part of a three-day streak with highs of at least 75 degrees. Every day in the last two weeks of that month reached at least 50 degrees, including 7 days at 68 degrees or higher. That February was the warmest on record and also warmer than a typical March.
