DC weather history for December 27

A burst of unusual warmth in 1971 pushed temperatures to a record 72 degrees, capping a late-month stretch of frequent 60-degree days.

On this day in 1971, the District reached a record high of 72 degrees. Five of the six days to end that month reached at least 60 degrees. It ranks as the seventh warmest December on record.
