“The strong line of storms thundered through the area, from Montgomery County and northern Fairfax County, across the District and finally in Alexandria and Prince George’s County,” The Post reported. “Brilliant displays of lightning filled the suddenly dark skies. Rain fell in torrents. It took more than an hour for the storm to pass, then there was an eerie orange-yellow sunset.”
