A rare late-season snow in 1981 brought record accumulation, part of an unusually cold stretch with wintry conditions lingering into spring.

On this date in 1981, a calendar-day record 2 inches of snow fell. An inch had fallen the previous day for a storm total of 3 inches. The snow, the most on record so late in the season, came during an abnormally cold period with four straight days remaining below 50 degrees and two freezing nights.
